But now the labels just send us DVDs, maybe a link to some pics and say: put this on the CD as well. Years ago it was just: 'Please add these files to the Audio Master make an Enhanced CD' - where all the encoding has already been done by the video people and it was just a matter of putting it in toast and burn. Lately messing with video seems to have sneaked into my daily mastering work.
#METADATA HOOTENANNY FOR MAC#
You can always use something like a Mac OS application called Metadata Hootenanny ( Download Metadata Hootenanny 1.2 for Mac - Metadata Hootenanny is a viewer/editor for metadata in QT movies - Softpedia) which can read the metadata in Quicktime files and see if it is embedded correctly. When you include that on the CD it should retain the ISR Code. In terms of Enhanced CD, the best solution is to use an video authoring application and embed the ISR Code there (or get the video editor to enter it).
#METADATA HOOTENANNY PRO#
I have suggested that Sorenson Squeeze, Adobe's Flash Authoring, Adobe's Flash Exporter plugin and Apple's Quicktime Pro all should contain a dedicated ISR Code field that will offer a standard way of embedding codes and make life much easier for us non-video folks who occasionally get video requests like this. So hopefully things will be easier in future. They are however working with software providers for formats other than CD and MP3. I have checked with the IFPI and the RIAA and there is no standard for embedding ISR Codes beyond CD/DVD/SACD and mp3. This way you can use on file for most decent and popular services and embed the ISR Codes in the metadata and the ISR Code will show up. Since FLV acts as a container for h.264 and Quicktime, I use FLV for most video formats and this allows you to Stream video content off a server or a dedicated streaming service as well as use services such as YouTube and other progressive playback services that use FLV. I then use an FLV metadata viewer to confirm the ISR Code has been embedded. Then enter the ISR Codes in the Description Field (I guess a tag could work too). The procedure that works the best for me is to use Sorenson Squeeze 5 Pro ( Sorenson Media - Squeeze) which can output Flash, QuickTime, Windows Media, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. Unfortunately there is no standard method of embedding ISR Codes for video files.
